When we think of health tracking, we often focus on input: calories consumed, steps taken, or hours slept. But an equally significant, and often misunderstood, indicator of health lies in what our body produces—specifically, our bowel function.
There's a common, incorrect assumption that an "ideal" is hitting an arbitrary number, like once a day. In reality, experts point out: “There is a very wide range of “normal” bowel function between different people. It is not essential to have one bowel action per day, and indeed it is probably a minority of the total population who has this.”
The critical insight is not to chase an ideal, but to know your baseline. What is your unique pattern?
Despite its importance, stool tracking is largely absent from major health apps, including Apple Health. Why is this key metric an afterthought? Is it related to social stigma?
Furthermore, the existing bowel movement tracking apps, such as Bowelle and Cara Care, often target users with specific conditions like IBS. While incredibly helpful for those seeking to identify food triggers and record other complex symptoms, this level of detail can overwhelm the average user who simply wants to establish their personal "normal."
Our goal is simpler and more fundamental: to empower you to better learn your normal, without the complexity.
To address this gap, we built the Log of Logs app prototype quickly and efficiently, with support from Lovable and ChatGPT.
This app is designed to be straightforward and focused, helping you track your pattern without the noise.
Try it out:
Prototype: You can try out the the app on https://log-of-logs.lovable.app/
Status: It's free and experimental.
Feedback: We would love to get your feedback as we continue to develop it!
